Traffic Engineer, Entry-Level

B&N Traffic Engineer, Entry Level Responsibilities:
- Perform safety analyses and network screening, including systemic analysis and site-specific studies
- Apply Safe System Approach (SSA) principles, proven safety countermeasures, and Highway Safety Manual methodologies on assigned projects
- Collaborate and learn from experienced Professional Engineers, Professional Traffic Operations Engineers and be mentored by industry leaders in transportation
- Grow and develop skills including traffic engineering tasks, technical skills, project management and business development
- Support experienced engineers on transportation projects, including traffic modeling and analysis, safety analysis, and traffic forecasting
Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or related field from an ABET-accredited program required
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Engineer Intern registration or ability to obtain within 3 months
- 0-4 years of experience in traffic studies and plan development
- Excellent communication skills and willingness to collaborate
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, MicroStation, GIS, or AutoCAD; experience with Synchro, HCS, HSM, or IHSDM a plus
- Adaptable and self-motivated with an entrepreneurial mindset as well as a proactive approach to problem solving
- Strong interest in transportation engineering and motivated to improve the efficiency and safety of transportation systems
- Strong technical writing and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
- Experience participating in Road Safety Audits and familiarity with safety countermeasure evaluation and selection a plus
