Aerospace Maintenance Duty Officer

The AMDO community seeks professionals with education and experience in engineering, physical sciences, computer science, business, management, and related fields who are interested in aviation maintenance, logistics, and leadership.

As a Navy Reserve Aerospace Maintenance Duty Officer, you'll have the opportunity to:

• Lead aviation maintenance and logistics programs that support aircraft readiness and mission success
• Manage maintenance personnel, resources, and operational programs across the Naval Aviation Enterprise
• Apply your technical and management expertise to real-world challenges involving aviation systems and sustainment
• Gain leadership experience while continuing to pursue your civilian career
• Serve in a community that supports fleet aviation operations, maintenance organizations, and acquisition programs throughout the Navy Reserve.

Qualified applicants typically possess a bachelor's degree in engineering, physical sciences, computer science, business administration, management, or a related field, along with significant aviation maintenance, aviation engineering, or aviation leadership experience. A minimum of five years of supervisory aviation maintenance experience is required, with military aviation experience preferred.

Reserve service generally consists of one weekend of drill each month and approximately two weeks of annual training each year, allowing you to continue building your civilian career while serving as a Navy officer. Selectees receive a commission as an Ensign in the U.S. Navy Reserve and incur an eight-year Ready Reserve obligation, with the first three years served in the Selected Reserve.
