QC Lab Chemist

Role: QC Lab Chemist
Location: Brandenburg
Rate: $40/hr on W2.

The focus is to continue key projects during Jessica’s absence, particularly:

  • Reviewing customer analytical methods.
  • Evaluating methods for improvement.
  • Troubleshooting analytical techniques.
  • Recommending and implementing method improvements.
  • Supporting round-robin studies and Gauge R&R activities.
  • Gathering, organizing, and analyzing data.
  • Working with technicians and ensuring studies are completed successfully.

Required Technical Background

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry preferred.
  • Open to candidates who are:
    • Almost finished with a Bachelor’s degree.
    • Recent graduates.
    • Master’s or PhD students.
    • Individuals from academic environments seeking short-term experience.

Chemistry Skills

Candidates should have:

  • Strong wet chemistry knowledge.
  • Experience following analytical methods.
  • Good laboratory practices.
  • Ability to troubleshoot methods and laboratory processes.
  • Ability to run experiments independently after receiving direction.

The team emphasized that they do not expect candidates to have experience with every instrument or analytical method used in the lab.

Primary Responsibilities

The majority of work will involve:

Method Development & Improvement

  • Reviewing customer testing methods.
  • Running methods personally.
  • Identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Troubleshooting problems.
  • Validating adjusted methods.
  • Re-implementing improved methods.

Laboratory Work

Hands-on work includes:

  • Titrations.
  • Instrument-based analysis.
  • Repetitive testing required to validate methods.
  • Data collection and evaluation.

Project Work

The role is largely project-focused.

Examples include:

  • Round Robin studies.
  • Gauge R&R activities.
  • Method validation projects.
  • NIR model validation work.
  • Customer method review projects.

Data Analysis & Reporting

  • Organizing analytical data.
  • Evaluating customer data.
  • Preparing findings.
  • Reporting results to management and customers.
  • Recommending next steps and improvements.
