Apply to Cohort 2 of the Climate Justice Champions (CJC) Program

Background

Climate Action Campaign is hiring for our second cohort of the Climate Justice Champion (CJC) program – a paid advocacy opportunity for university students in Southern California with a passion for environmental justice, advocacy, and community organizing. CJCs will work to advance two key climate priorities: statewide electricity affordability reforms and clean air rules at the South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD). 

California families’ electric bills have doubled in the last 10 years, pushing families to the brink and delaying climate action across the state. CJCs will engage and educate their community to create support for reforms that make electricity cheaper and cleaner for all Californians. 

Industrial pollution rules under consideration at SCAQMD are a critical step toward improving air quality, public health, and environmental justice across Southern California. CJCs will create public engagement to push university administrators to eliminate methane gas use on their campuses. 

To advance these campaigns, we will hire two advocates at each of six universities in Southern California (see list below). CJCs will be paid a $1,000 stipend for work performed from September 2026-May 2027. Full job description and responsibilities are attached.

This position is with Climate Action Campaign (CAC), a Southern California non-profit fighting to end the climate crisis to protect the people and places we love.
