Senior Electronics Engineer

Position: Senior Electronics Engineer

Location: Groton, Connecticut

Summary:

This role is ideal for an experienced Electronics Engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges in a hands-on research and development environment. As a Senior Engineer – Electronics, you will lead the design, development, integration, and testing of advanced electronic systems supporting next-generation underwater sensing, communications, and electromechanical technologies for defense applications. The ideal candidate combines deep expertise in analog and digital electronics with strong leadership, system integration, and problem-solving abilities while collaborating across multidisciplinary engineering teams.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead the design and development of custom analog and digital electronic systems for advanced defense technologies.
  • Design, review, and validate complex printed circuit boards (PCBs), embedded electronics, and mixed-signal hardware.
  • Develop, integrate, test, and troubleshoot electronic assemblies from prototype through production.
  • Perform system-level integration, verification, and laboratory testing using advanced electronic test equipment.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership across multiple concurrent R&D projects.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, software, systems, and manufacturing engineers throughout product development.
  • Prepare engineering documentation, schematics, design reviews, technical reports, and manufacturing packages.
  • Support field testing, customer demonstrations, and transition of products into production.

Experience You'll Need:

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
  • 8+ years of electronics engineering experience (or equivalent advanced degree experience).
  • Strong experience designing analog, digital, and mixed-signal electronic circuits.
  • Experience designing, integrating, and troubleshooting custom PCB assemblies.
  • Experience with embedded processors, microcontrollers, digital interfaces, and power electronics.
  • Proficiency using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, and laboratory test equipment.
  • Experience leading engineering design reviews and mentoring junior engineers.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Defense Security Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Altium Designer or similar PCB design software.
  • Experience with LTSpice or circuit simulation tools.
  • Programming experience with C/C++, Python, or embedded firmware.
  • Experience supporting DoD, Navy, maritime, or underwater systems.
  • Knowledge of signal conditioning, sensor electronics, communications systems, or electromechanical products.
