Software Engineering Intern
.,*************************Company Description
www.campusmesh.com
CampusMesh is the verified campus network — a social and professional platform built exclusively for U.S. college students, alumni, and faculty. Every account is verified through a .edu identity, so the network is real people, not anonymous accounts or bots.
Since launching our MVP, we've grown to thousands of verified students across 25+ universities , and we're live on web, iOS, and Android. We're an NVIDIA Inception company, backed by a founding team out of Microsoft, Amazon, and Columbia Alumn.
The platform is built on six pillars: verified identity, Community Forums, campus events, Jobs & Internships, Student Marketplace, and CampusIQ — our AI campus assistant.
Job Description
We're looking for a Software Engineering Intern to build product that other students actually use. This is not a shadowing internship. You'll own real features, push code to production, and see your work in the hands of thousands of students within weeks.
You'll work directly with our CTO and Chief Architect on a small, fast-moving team where your ideas about what students want carry real weight — because you are one.
What You'll Do
- Design, build, and ship user-facing features across our web and mobile apps
- Write clean, tested code in a modern JavaScript/TypeScript stack (React, Next.js, Node.js)
- Build and integrate REST APIs and backend services on AWS
- Contribute to CampusIQ, our AI assistant, including LLM prompt design and API integration
- Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, and product decisions
- Debug production issues and improve performance, reliability, and accessibility
- Bring the student perspective — help us decide what to build, not just how
What We're Looking For
Required
- Currently enrolled in a U.S. college or university pursuing a degree in CS, Software Engineering, or a related field
- Proficiency in at least one modern language (JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Java, Go, or similar)
- Working knowledge of Git and collaborative development workflows
- Understanding of core CS fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, APIs, databases
- Strong written communication and the ability to work independently in a remote-friendly team
- Genuine interest in consumer products and campus community
Preferred
- Experience with React, Next.js, or React Native
- Familiarity with cloud services (AWS: Lambda, DynamoDB, S3) or serverless architecture
- Exposure to mobile development (iOS/Android or cross-platform)
- Experience calling LLM APIs or building with AI tooling
- Personal projects, hackathon work, open-source contributions, or a public GitHub
- Prior involvement in student organizations or campus leadership
What You'll Get
- Real production ownership — your code ships, with your name on it
- Direct mentorship from engineers with 10+ years at scale
- Exposure to the full arc of an early-stage startup: product, architecture, growth
- Flexible hours built around your class schedule
- A reference and portfolio work that stands out in full-time recruiting
