About Thought GPS

Thought GPS is a location-based audio storytelling app that lets creators attach voice clips to real-world places. Listeners can discover stories, tours, memories, comedy, history, recommendations, and campus experiences tied to the places around them.

We are an early-stage startup building a new way for people to experience cities, campuses, neighborhoods, and cultural spaces through GPS-triggered audio.

Internship Overview

Thought GPS is seeking an Investor & Financing Research Intern to support fundraising preparation, accelerator research, investor targeting, pitch materials, and financing strategy.

This role is ideal for a student interested in startups, venture capital, entrepreneurship, fundraising, business strategy, market research, finance, accelerators, or investor relations.

The intern will help research relevant investors, grants, accelerators, pitch competitions, and funding opportunities while supporting materials that help Thought GPS communicate its market, product, traction, and growth strategy.

Responsibilities

Research accelerators, incubators, pitch competitions, grants, venture funds, angel groups, and other financing opportunities

Track deadlines, eligibility requirements, funding terms, application questions, and submission materials

Help identify investors, funds, angels, and startup programs that are a strong fit for Thought GPS

Research comparable startups, market trends, customer segments, competitors, and potential business models

Support pitch deck updates, application drafts, one-pagers, company summaries, and investor research briefs

Help organize application answers, founder notes, traction updates, market sizing, and use-of-funds materials

Monitor accelerator deadlines and recommend which opportunities should be prioritized

Research investor portfolios, focus areas, check sizes, locations, and relevant warm-intro paths when available

Summarize findings into clear recommendations for startup leadership

Key Deliverables & Expectations

Weekly deliverables may include:

Updated accelerator, grant, investor, or financing opportunity tracker

Research summaries on relevant investors, programs, grants, or pitch competitions

Notes on application deadlines, fit, requirements, and recommended next steps

Draft or revised pitch deck content, application answers, company descriptions, or one-pagers

Market, competitor, customer, or business model research

Participation in a weekly team meeting and company-wide Monday meeting

Semester-end deliverable:

A final Investor & Financing Research Package summarizing priority funding opportunities, investor targets, accelerator deadlines, pitch/application materials supported, market research findings, and recommended next steps for Thought GPS.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is analytical, organized, strategic, and interested in how early-stage startups raise capital and communicate their business opportunity. Prior professional experience is not required, but candidates should be comfortable researching, writing, organizing information, and thinking critically about startup growth.

Strong candidates may have experience or interest in:

Entrepreneurship or venture capital

Startup fundraising

Finance, business strategy, or market research

Accelerators, incubators, grants, or pitch competitions

Pitch decks, investor memos, or business plans

Competitive research and market sizing

Google Sheets, Excel, Google Slides, PowerPoint, or Notion

Consumer apps, creator platforms, travel, media, local discovery, or mobile technology

Internship Details

Dates: August 31, 2026 – November 20, 2026

Hours: 10–15 hours per week

Format: Remote, hybrid, or campus-based depending on location and role

Meetings: Mondays at 2:00 PM Pacific / 5:00 PM Eastern, plus weekly team meetings scheduled by each team

Compensation: Academic credit, stipend, or unpaid experiential opportunity, depending on school requirements and role structure

Option to extend for Spring 2027 based on performance, availability, and company needs

Meeting Expectations

Interns are expected to attend scheduled meetings and participate professionally. Cameras are encouraged and may be expected for introductions, team discussions, and final presentations when feasible.
