Maintenance Support Intern (12 Months)
LG Chem Ohio Petrochemical, Inc. is seeking a Maintenance Support Intern to join our team at the ABS Compounding Facility and Customer Solution Center in Ravenna, Ohio.
This 12-month internship is an excellent opportunity for a student interested in gaining hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment. The intern will work closely with our Maintenance team while also supporting Production, Engineering, and Customer Solution Center teams. We are seeking a motivated student with an interest in engineering, business, manufacturing, or mechanical systems who enjoys problem-solving, organization, and working in a fast-paced environment.
Schedule
This is a 12-month internship assignment. During the academic year, we are seeking a student who can work onsite approximately 10-20 hours per week, with the opportunity for additional hours during school breaks and summer months, based on availability and business needs.
What You'll Do
Essential Functions (include but are not limited to):
• Support the Maintenance Department with a variety of administrative and operational tasks.
• Process invoices, manage recurring vendor payments, and assist with obtaining quotes for maintenance projects and services.
• Schedule vendor visits for equipment repairs, inspections, and preventive maintenance activities.
• Maintain inventory of maintenance spare parts and manufacturing supplies, initiating reorders as needed.
• Research and identify potential suppliers for replacement parts, materials, and equipment.
• Assist with procurement activities related to maintenance and plant operations.
• Support the development and updating of Maintenance Department Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Manage and analyze operational data, generating reports to support decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Assist with special projects that provide exposure to maintenance, engineering, and plant operations.
Qualifications & Skills
• Current student pursuing an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain, Manufacturing Technology, Industrial Technology, or a related field.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Strong interest in manufacturing, engineering, maintenance, or business operations.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams).
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
• Experience with data management, inventory tracking, or customer/vendor relationship systems is helpful but not required.
• Availability to work 10-20 hours per week during the academic year, Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM, based on class schedule.
• This position is classified as hourly, non-exempt, and is eligible for overtime pay where applicable.
