Accounting Intern (12-Month Internship)
LG Chem Ohio Petrochemical, Inc. is seeking an Accounting Intern to join our Accounting and Finance team at our ABS Compounding Facility in Ravenna, Ohio.
This 12-month internship is an excellent opportunity for a student interested in gaining hands-on experience in corporate accounting and finance within a global manufacturing company. The intern will work closely with the Accounting team while supporting various financial processes that help drive business operations and decision-making.
We are seeking a motivated student pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field who is eager to learn, develop professional skills, and gain practical experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Schedule
This is a 12-month internship assignment. During the academic year, we are seeking a student who can work approximately 10-20 hours per week, with the opportunity for additional hours during school breaks and summer months based on availability and business needs.
What You'll Do
Essential Functions (include but are not limited to):
• Assist with processing vendor invoices and supporting Accounts Payable activities.
• Process payment requests through the company banking system.
• Support Accounts Receivable functions, including payment tracking and customer account maintenance.
• Create and maintain customer and vendor records within the company's ERP system.
• Assist with account reconciliations and month-end closing activities.
• Review financial transactions for accuracy, completeness, and proper documentation.
• Support internal and external audit activities by gathering and organizing requested documentation.
• Research and assist in resolving accounting discrepancies and transaction issues.
• Maintain accounting records through filing, scanning, and document retention processes.
• Assist with data analysis, reporting, and special projects as assigned by the Accounting and Finance team.
• Gain exposure to financial processes that support manufacturing operations and business performance.
Qualifications & Skills
• Current student pursuing an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Strong interest in accounting, finance, business operations, or manufacturing.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience with ERP systems, accounting software, or financial reporting is helpful but not required.
• Availability to work 10-20 hours per week during the academic year, Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM, based on academic schedule.
• This position is classified as hourly, non-exempt, and is eligible for overtime pay where applicable.
