Tax Internship - Summer 2027 (Paid)

CSX is a Fortune 500 company seeking future business leaders to help foster growth, efficiency and innovation. Interns that are placed within the Tax Organization will be exposed to Federal and State Income, Sales & Use, and Property Tax issues for a 10 week immersion into CSX methods and culture. Individuals will complete challenging real-world assignments, working hand in hand with leaders across the company to improve decision-making and financial processes. The tax internship provides an opportunity for candidates to experience what a role in income and indirect tax looks like, while allowing CSX to actively recruit tomorrow’s best talent.

What You'll Experience

  • 10-Week Summer Internship Program: May 24, 2027 – July 30, 2027
  • Location: CSX Headquarters in Jacksonville, Florida (on-site)
  • Housing Support: Eligible interns may receive complimentary housing for the duration of the program. Travel, transportation, and other personal expenses are not provided.

Primary Activities and Responsibilities:

Participate in and learn core functions of the income and indirect tax department

Prepare Federal and state income, sales and use, and property tax returns using various tax preparation software

Participate in process improvement projects designed to improve best practices

Conduct tax research, summarize results, and communicate findings to co-workers

Complete cross functional projects and other miscellaneous administrative activities

Minimum Qualifications:

Be a rising senior or graduate student enrolled in an accredited college or university, with an anticipated graduation date of December 2027 or May 2028.

Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale

Pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in list majors. Preferred majors and areas of study: Accounting, Finance, Business or a related major field of study from an accredited institution

Be available to work up to 40 hours per week for the duration of the 10-week program

Demonstrate strong communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and leadership skills

Must be 18 years of age

Preferred Qualifications:

Cumulative minimum GPA of 3.5 (based on a 4-point scale)

Graduate students actively pursuing a master's degree in a relevant field 

Previous internship, co-op, part-time, or relevant work experience

Demonstrated leadership experience through student organizations, athletics, volunteer activities, or campus involvement

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word) 

Knowledge and Skills:

Academic distinction with accounting or finance interest/talent

Opportunity to develop leadership ability and initiative

Opportunity to develop strong communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills

Opportunity to deliver presentations to a senior level audience

Proficient in Microsoft Office
