THE POSITION
The State of Connecticut, Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) is now hiring for a Qualified Craft Worker (HVACR) to join their team! This position directly supports public health and safety by maintaining proper ventilation, temperature control, humidity levels, and indoor air quality in agency facilities.
HVAC systems regulate airflow, filtration, and air exchange rates that reduce airborne contaminants and maintain safe occupancy conditions. In facilities serving the public—such as administrative offices, healthcare environments, detention centers, schools, or public service buildings —malfunctioning HVAC systems can lead to: Unsafe indoor air quality; Mold growth and moisture damage; Heat- or cold-related health risks; and Disruption of critical public services. This HVAC Technician ensures preventive maintenance, timely repairs, and system monitoring to maintain safe environmental conditions for employees, visitors, and vulnerable populations.
