About the Role
TBD Investors is seeking an Accounting Intern to support financial reporting, transaction accounting, and accounting initiatives across our firm and portfolio companies.
The intern will gain exposure to the accounting work involved in acquiring, operating, and growing privately held businesses. Projects may include financial-statement analysis, monthly reporting, acquisition accounting, account reconciliation, budgeting, cash management, tax-document coordination, and improving accounting processes at portfolio companies.
This role is ideal for someone who wants practical experience at the intersection of accounting, private equity, and business operations.
What You’ll Work On
Assist with monthly and quarterly financial reporting
Review income statements, balance sheets, cash-flow statements, and general-ledger activity
Help prepare account reconciliations, supporting schedules, and variance analyses
Support accounts-payable, accounts-receivable, payroll, and cash-management projects
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and comparisons of actual performance against plan
Help organize financial records and supporting documentation for acquisitions
Support financial and accounting due diligence for potential investments
Assist with purchase-accounting schedules and post-acquisition opening balance sheets
Help integrate accounting systems, policies, and reporting processes following acquisitions
Review portfolio-company financial reporting for completeness, accuracy, and consistency
Support the preparation and organization of tax documents, K-1s, entity records, and information requested by outside accountants
Help maintain entity-level financial information and investment records
Assist with audit, review, and tax-preparation requests
Identify opportunities to improve accounting controls, reporting timelines, and documentation
Help develop standardized reports, templates, and accounting procedures for growing companies
Work with controllers, CFOs, company leaders, investment professionals, and outside accounting firms

Strong candidates will have:
A solid understanding of basic accounting principles
Strong quantitative and analytical skills
Excellent attention to detail and organizational ability
Comfort working with spreadsheets and financial information
An interest in private equity, corporate accounting, audit, tax, or financial operations
Sound judgment when handling confidential information
The ability to work independently and meet deadlines
A practical mindset and an interest in understanding how accounting supports business decisions
Experience with Excel, QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage Intacct, financial reporting, bookkeeping, or tax preparation is helpful but not required. Students pursuing CPA eligibility are encouraged to apply.
