About the Role

We are looking for an analytical, organized, and highly motivated Healthcare Administration Intern to support healthcare organizations across the TBD Investors portfolio.

Our healthcare companies provide pediatric therapy, behavioral-health services, primary and specialty medical care, and technology supporting patients and providers. They are opening locations, entering new markets, expanding access to care, improving patient experiences, and building the administrative systems needed to support continued growth.

You may work primarily with one portfolio company or support projects involving several healthcare businesses. Each intern will be assigned defined workstreams, measurable objectives, and a primary manager.

This is not an observational internship. You will analyze operational information, help improve administrative processes, and produce work that healthcare leaders can actually use.

What You’ll Do

Depending on portfolio needs and your experience, responsibilities may include:

Analyzing patient access, scheduling, referral, cancellation, and wait-list data

Helping improve patient intake, registration, scheduling, and follow-up processes

Supporting the opening and administration of new clinics and healthcare locations

Building reports and dashboards to track operational and patient-service performance

Reviewing provider schedules, capacity, productivity, and utilization

Mapping patient journeys and identifying opportunities to improve the patient experience

Supporting workforce planning, staffing analyses, and administrative recruiting initiatives

Evaluating administrative workflows and identifying operational bottlenecks

Assisting with revenue-cycle projects involving billing, collections, denials, and patient communication

Researching healthcare markets, patient demographics, referral sources, and service demand

Documenting processes and developing repeatable administrative playbooks

Preparing materials for operating reviews and leadership meetings

Supporting acquisition integration and special projects across healthcare organizations

Example Projects

Projects could include:

Analyzing a pediatric therapy company’s wait list and identifying ways to help more children begin treatment sooner

Improving the scheduling and patient-intake process for a growing medical practice

Building a dashboard that tracks referrals, appointments, cancellations, provider capacity, and patient access

Supporting the opening of a new pediatric therapy, behavioral-health, or medical location

Evaluating administrative staffing needs as a healthcare company enters a new market

Mapping the patient journey and recommending improvements to communication and follow-up

Analyzing billing or denial data and identifying opportunities to improve collections

Creating an operating playbook for clinic managers across a multi-location organization

Supporting the integration of a newly acquired medical practice

Researching a new healthcare service, geography, or patient population
