Student Trainee (Economist)

Duties

At the full performance level of the position, the duties are as follows:

• Performs research and compiles financial and economic information.
• Uses various computer software (e.g., spreadsheet, database, presentation, mapping, design, and economic) to extract data and generate reports.
• Prepares draft summaries of financial and economic research data on existing and emerging issues.                                                               
• Presents draft research findings orally and in writing to staff. 
• Maintains and updates various office files to include work papers, data files, and records.

Qualifications

Applicants must have completed:
- two (2) full academic years of post-high school study or obtained an associate's degree; OR
- one (1) year of general experience in clerical, office, or other work responsibilities, demonstrating the ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled; OR
- a combination of education and experience: equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements.

Additional information

Must have a graduation date of May 2027 or later.

Must be a US Citizen.

Applicants must have at least a cumulative (overall) 2.5 grade point average; and remain in good academic standing.

FDIC employees work full-time in the office in collaboration with other staff at the location for which they are hired.

If selected, you may be required to serve a trial period.

The range of pay shown includes base pay plus supplemental locality adjustments. The locality rates for these duty locations range from a low of 18.97% to a high of 51.75%. Pay will vary by grade level and the locality rate for the geographic location where the position is located. For more on FDIC locality rates,  click here. The total salary for each location including base pay and locality is as follows: Atlanta, GA $42,352 | San Francisco, CA $51,918 | New York, NY $47,922 | Washington, DC $45,825 | Kansas City, MO $40,703

This appointment may be extended if interns continue to meet all educational and pathways requirements.
