2027 Dates
Staff Training: May 23 - June 5 (2 weeks)
Camp: June 6 - Aug 7 (9 weeks)
What You'll Do
- Distribute all scheduled daily and evening medications to campers on schedule.
- Respond promptly to medical situations in program areas, trails, and cabins, carrying first-response equipment to maintain field readiness.
- Provide initial assessment, stabilization, and transport to the Health Lodge as needed.
- Accurately document all Health Lodge visits, outcomes, and medical encounters, communicating details directly to the Camp Nurse.
- Collaborate with cabin staff, directors, and advocates to support non-medical, emotional, and behavioral camper needs using positive guidance techniques.
- Follow all camp policies and procedures to ensure health, safety, and appropriate role-modeling across camp.
What You’ll Gain (Resume-Building Transferable Skills)
- Emergency Medical Response & Assessment: Direct experience providing triage, initial stabilization, first-response care, and field medical logistics.
- Healthcare Administration & Clinical Documentation: Hands-on experience managing medication schedules, maintaining accurate medical records, and reporting to nursing leadership.
- Stakeholder Collaboration & EQ: Interprofessional teamwork with camp directors, nurses, and cabin staff to ensure holistic camper well-being.
- Behavioral Guidance & Youth Support: Practical application of positive behavior techniques, active listening, and camper care.
What We'll Provide
- Competitive Pay: Starting salary of $8,800 for the 11-week summer season.
- All-Inclusive Living: Full room, board, meals, and laundry services provided on-site for the duration of the contract—save on summer expenses!
- Camp Store Credit: Includes an additional $100 credit for snacks, gear, and supplies.
- Schedule: Position requires availability on-site 7 days a week (including weekends) for the contract period. To support rest and work-life balance, staff receive two 1-hour breaks each day and 1 scheduled day off every week.
What We’re Looking For
- Majors or career interests in Nursing, Pre-Med, Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Public Health, Athletic Training, Healthcare Administration, or related fields.
- Certifications in CPR, First Aid, or EMT preferred.
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions, walking an average of 5 miles daily on uneven ground, and working near animals.
- Strong core competencies in communication, empathy, detail-orientation, risk awareness, and composure under pressure.
- Desire to positively impact the life of a child and ensure a safe, healthy camp environment.
