Job Role and Responsibilities
As an IT Audit Intern at VMware, you will be a part of a high-energy team delivering assurance and consulting services that aligns with the fast paced, dynamic environment of VMware. We work closely with the business, IT and Information Security teams to ensure their activities are strategically aligned with corporate business objectives and support the achievement of the Company’s vision, mission and values.
We are looking for a team member with an interest in Cloud Computing and SaaS services to support audit projects and initiatives. Candidate should be eager to learn about VMware products and participate in an agile environment that caters to emerging technology. With a desire to learn about the complex audit needs of a large publicly traded enterprise, we will teach you to use your analytical and decision-making skills to find risk-based solutions and recommendations.
Role:
- Assist with execution of technology audit projects as per the annual audit plan and communicating observations and recommendations to our stakeholders
- Understand broader concepts of risk in technology audit and learn to apply it on the projects I’m supporting
- Participate in team discussions, brainstorming and planning for projects in Security, Infrastructure, and cyber security
- Learn how the technology internal audit team partners with different IT, InfoSec and R&D stakeholders to jointly address enterprise technology risks
Responsibilities:
- Under the direction of the Audit Senior and Analyst, contribute to planning and project execution as a team member on technology-related assessments.
- Assist with audit projects areas and initiatives related to technology risk. Focus areas may include information security, cyber security, networking, system virtualization, IT operations and compliance.
- Practice professional skepticism to fully understand processes
- Research industry best practices and security frameworks related to project scope
- Assist with creating repository of data from previous audit projects
- Execute the corporate values through project work and team interactions
- Demonstrate commitment to Internal Audit’s strategic vision, be a self-starter, and proactively manage upwards while staying accountable.
- Assist with project management and support team’s operating rhythm.
- Work collaboratively with various teams across VMware
- Handle sensitive and confidential information with honesty and integrity
Requirements:
- Pursuing a Bachelors degree in management information systems, computer information systems, finance or accounting.
- Strong interpersonal skills, incl. good communication with the ability to articulate ideas in a precise and concise manner
- Basic knowledge of IT, good time management and works well in a team environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Work well in a global virtual environment that is fast-paced and constantly changing
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with concepts of audit, accounting, and emerging technologies is preferred.
- Effective presentation skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Basic technical auditing skills including some knowledge of emerging technologies
- Develop the ability to communicate technical issues to non-technical audiences succinctly and ability to clearly articulate to IT and Business clients alike
- Knowledge of current/emerging technology including SaaS, PaaS, IaaS, cloud computing, and virtualization is a plus

This internship is available to currently enrolled Junior/ Senior Bachelor-level students only. The program is 12-weeks during Summer 2021.
