Fall Legal Internship


Job Summary: 
CareSource is looking for talented candidates to join its in-house legal department team. The internship is designed to develop the skills and abilities of future attorneys, as well as to identify and attract talent to our organization. Interns will have the opportunity to learn about CareSource’s culture of commitment to its members and mission and how the in-house legal team furthers that purpose. Our internship program will expose students to the healthcare industry and allow them to obtain valuable skills while working under the direction of licensed attorneys. Interns will work closely with members of both the legal and business teams facilitating the formation of mentorship and networking connections.
Essential Functions:

  • Assist in preparation and review of various documents on a wide range of topics related to health care law such as: HIPAA, regulatory compliance, Medicaid and Medicare issues, privacy rights and filings related to regulatory requirements
  • Participate in research projects on issues impacting CareSource and the health insurance and managed care industry
  • Draft, review and edit a variety of legal documents
  • Assist in process improvement identification and solutions
  • Attend meetings and work closely with members of both the legal and business teams
  • Work on assignments geared towards issue-spotting and problem-solving 
  • Perform any other job-related functions as requested
Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree is required
  • Currently enrolled in a graduate Juris Doctor law program at an ABA accredited law school
  • Must have successfully completed 1 year of law school by commencement of internship
  • Must possess a minimum law school GPA of 3.0
  • Interest in healthcare and insurance law is preferred

Working Conditions:

  • General office environment; may be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time
  • Time commitment expected is 20 hours per week
