Early Learning Teacher

SUMMARY: With supervision, provides a stimulating, safe, and developmentally appropriate educational environment where children have the opportunity to develop cognitive, social, emotional, and physical skills.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential Functions:
  1. Develops, selects, and modifies instructional plans based on adopted curricula to meet the needs of all children, including those with disabilities.
  2. Establishes a nurturing relationship with children in additional to serving as a positive role model.
  3. Ensures the health, safety, and physical needs of children, which requires diligent monitoring of children at all times.
  4. Assesses each child’s performance and progress on a regular basis through ongoing observation and evaluation to meet their developmental needs and skill mastery.
  5. Communicates with parents and staff on a daily basis.
  6. Monitors appropriate use and care of equipment, materials, and facilities.
 
Marginal Functions:
  1. Maintains accurate records as required.
  2. Performs additional duties as assigned
 
CONDITIONS :
Equipment Used: Low vision devices (high & low tech), assistive technology used by students who are blind or visually impaired, copy machine, computer and software including a variety of cloud conferencing platforms, various adaptive and orthopedic equipment and telephone.
Performance Standard: Must assure 100% commitment to the integration, coordination, and implementation of student programs, and compliance with health and safety standards.
Work Environment: Multiple indoor and outdoor environments with varying sound, lighting and temperature conditions. May be exposed to various conditions when providing direct care to students.
Work Schedule: 35 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch period. This position follows the standard eleven month school schedule. Additional hours or flex schedule may be required.

Experience and Skills:

QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to effectively communicate with children, staff, families/caregivers, and other stakeholders.
  2. Minimum of Bachelor's degree and ability to meet MSDE certification with an endorsement Early Learning Preferred.
  3. Comprehensive knowledge of the principles and practices of pedagogy.
  4. Ability to push and pull in excess of 100 pounds and ability to lift in excess of 50 pounds with assistance.
  5. Must be at least 21 years of age.
