COVID-19 Vaccine Requirement for Employees and StudentsOn August 10, the Ventura County Community College District Board of Trustees unanimously approved the policy COVID-19 Vaccine Requirement for Employees and Students. The policy requires that everyone who accesses in-person, on-site campus/District programs, or who participates in off-site District/college services in person will be required to be vaccinated against COVID-19. Effective Oct. 15, the mandate allows time for unvaccinated employees, students and the public to complete two-dose vaccines. Exemptions will be made for individuals who cannot be vaccinated due to medical and/or religious reasons.

WHAT YOU'LL DOUnder the functional supervision of the Coordinator of Student Health Services and administrative supervision of a dean, perform a variety of front and back medical office duties in the Student Health CenterWHO WE AREVentura County Community College District (VCCCD) is a public community college district serving residents throughout Ventura County. Representative Duties
Perform phlebotomies and administer injections under the direction of the nurse practitioner, registered nurse, physician, or physician assistant. E

Differentiate between medical non-emergency and emergency situations; refer patients to professional medical staff as appropriate; activate the Emergency Medical System (EMS) when appropriate in the absence of the Coordinator or Student Health Center clinical staff. E

Administer basic comfort measures to injured and ill persons; assist medical personnel with emergency care and equipment, administer first aid, CPR and AED, when necessary. E

Assist physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, and support staff in the delivery of patient care. E

Assist students with inquiries regarding insurance billing concerns; coordinate with the appropriate offices to expedite claims and resolve problems; initiate and process student insurance claims, including the completion and filing of required forms, notifying medical providers of patient needs, and assisting with the referral of injuries. E

Assist in establishing and implementing procedures for the reception and flow of students, including screening and prioritizing student needs in both routine and urgent situations. E

Review the documentation of labs and medications, and monitor controls and temperatures of equipment for the purpose of quality improvement/assurance. E

Develop and implement policies and procedures for maintaining the confidentiality of medical records and incident reports. E
Implement policies and procedures for disinfection and handling of contaminated waste or equipment; assist the campus and Student Health Center staff in following Standardized Precautions when handling hazardous waste. E

Perform basic health screening procedures including vision and hearing screening, glucometer, height, weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, respirations, and laboratory testing,. E

Collect specimens, prepare for examinations and perform screening tests; assist with physicals. E

Assist in completing the documentation, filing, recording, and reporting of results for immunizations and testing for TB. E

Clean and sterilize equipment and instruments. E

Assist in the preparation and monitoring of the Student Health Center budget. E

Perform a variety of clerical duties including gathering and recording statistical data, composing letters, reports and memos, scheduling appointments, answering and screening phone calls, assisting with payroll, contracts and purchasing requisitions, and creating and distributing marketing materials to promote Student Health Center activities. E

Maintain and order medical and office supplies; monitor inventory of equipment. E

Assist with coordinating Student Health Center education and promotion programs; provide literature and information to students and staff. E

Respond to inquiries regarding the Student Health Center and other agencies affiliated with the college and the Student Health Center; provide a variety of health-related information to patients with direction from professional staff act as a liaison with community healthcare providers/agencies and campus departments. E

Train and provide work direction to student workers as assigned. E

Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

Graduation from high school or evidence of equivalent educational proficiency AND successful completion of a Medical Assistant Program, in accordance with the regulations established by the Medical Board of California

Experience

One year of experience performing basic medical back office duties including administering injections or performing phlebotomy, in a medical office, clinic, or hospital setting.

LICENSES AND REQUIREMENTS:

Valid First Aid, CPR, and AED Certificates issued by the American Red Cross, American Heart Association or other authorized agency

Medical Assistant Program Certificate
