Environmental/ Outdoor Education Instructor

The Sunset Bay Wharf Beach Camp program is a one of a kind outdoor education and marine science youth summer program held each year at the Sunset Bay Wharf in the Seattle suburb of Edmonds. It provides career opportunities in environmental education and outreach and an unsurpassed opportunity for leadership development and networking for undergrads and graduating seniors thinking about grad school or other career opportunities in Seattle.

The program combines mission based marine science education with traditional ocean beach activities such as sea kayaking, sailing, paddle boarding, beach combing, beach biking, skim boarding, and snorkeling/snuba.  Our program also includes a fleet of outboard powered Zodiacs for exploring nearby marine mamal habitats.

Our summer program's mission is two-fold. To educate and challenge our students, and to empower our summer teaching assistants with resume building leadership skills and lifelong friendships with other undergrads from around the country and the world.

The Sunset Bay Wharf is located only minutes from downtown Seattle, providing summer staff the opportunity to develop contacts and local knowledge in one of the most vibrant employment markets in the country for young people. Summer staff live and work on the Wharf and receive round trip air fare, room and board, and $3,500 stipend for the 8 week season. Graduating seniors are eligible for year around teaching, community outreach, and management positions.

The Sunset Bay Wharf resembles a mini city over the water with summer staff able to pursue interests in a range of operational areas.
