Community Relations Intern

Position: Community Relations Intern
Reports to: Community Relations Officer and Outreach Coordinator
Position term and Hours: May 2022-September 2022

SCOPE OF WORK:
The Community Relations Intern is responsible for collaborating with IRC staff to determine volunteer
needs; recruit, screen, train and supervise volunteers; provide on-going support and guidance for
volunteers; and enter volunteer information in a central database system. They will also help with any other capacity building needs.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  •  Conduct outreach to universities with internship and volunteer opportunities
  • Attend career fairs when available, both virtual and in-person
  • Research different organizations and universities for promoting volunteer and internship opportunities
  • Assist with onboarding interns and volunteers
  • Assist with recruitment for internship positions
  • Help organize/coordinate events for volunteers
  • Work with staff and outreach coordinator to determine volunteer needs
  • Cover front desk when assigned and needed
  • Check voicemail from front desk when needed
  • Other related tasks and duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Minimum pursuing Bachelor’s degree in any field
  • Strong commitment to national service and the mission of the IRC
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to conduct community outreach and make presentations to community groups
  • Willingness to take initiative to achieve goals
  • Strong project management/multi-tasking abilities
