2023 START Technology Intern Program - Data Science - NYC

Student Technology, Agile & Readiness Training (S.T.A.R.T) Program
S.T.A.R.T. is a 10-week internship program offered by BNY Mellon, which gives high-potential students the opportunity to gain valuable, well-rounded internship experience and get a real-world look into what it's like to work for a global financial services company. 
S.T.A.R.T interns will participate in a robust technical experience in JavaScript, Python, CSS, Java, and more. This program is an immense development and learning opportunity for students with a passion for Technology. It gives you an opportunity to explore, discover and drive your purpose.

Program Locations:
  • US: New York, NY

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Apply scientific methods to find solutions to real business problems.  
  • Perform data analysis, feature engineering, and advanced methods to prepare and develop decisions based on data. 
  • Data mining using state-of-the-art methods 
  • Provide insight into observed business outcomes through analytics. 
  • Perform data profiling to identify and understand anomalies in data. 
  • Automate data analysis and streamline analytical processes 
  • Provide recommendations based on data trends uncovered when possible 
  • Stays abreast of organization and management changes and has in-depth knowledge of company practices relevant to data science products. 
  • Grow and develop skills across the 3 domain specialties: Machine Learning, Feature Engineering and Advanced Analytics capabilities. Stressing expertise in the core functional areas: Computer Programming, Math & Analytic Methodology, Distributed computing, and communications of complex results. 

Program Eligibility/Qualifications: 

  • Enrollment in a 4-year undergraduate (U.S.) degree program with a strong focus on technology-related majors (i.e., Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a similar major with extensive Data Science, Statistics, or related fields.) 
  • Rising junior or senior (U.S.) graduating in Dec 2023 or May 2024 
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above. 
  • Does not require sponsorship for employment visa status (now or in the future) in the region where applying 

Preferred skills: 

  • A great attitude and desire for learning 
  • Excellent problem solving, written and oral communication skills 
  • Disciplined self-starter, capable of working independently or in close collaboration 
  • Smart and driven individual who is passionate about learning new technologies
