21115 - Corporate Summer Internship - Corporate Investment Banking - Coverage Analyst

Job Summary
Provides primary analytical support, financial statement modeling, model development, valuation analysis, industry research, presentation preparation to support the overall business development strategies of the Corporate & Investment Banking industry team (Financial Institutions, Technology, Media & Communications, Healthcare). Collaborates with internal partners and other LOB's to bring value to the client relationship. Drives data integrity of customer information source systems for accurate management and reporting of the overall client relationship. Assists in day-to-day industry team and broader Corporate & Investment Banking operations and special projects, as needed.
Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Working with senior bank leaders, helps develop and support the execution of effective strategies to originate and execute a wide variety of lending, public/private capital, and advisory mandates in the designated industry sector(s). This includes the preparation of detailed financial models, pitches, offering memoranda and other presentations.
  • Performs financial statement modeling, indicative transaction structuring, pricing guidance and data analytics to support new business development strategies. Performs other financial modeling which may include valuation analysis, due diligence, transaction and cash flow analysis, and leveraged buy-out analysis on public and private companies. Prepares pitches and marketing materials for related calling efforts.
  • Performs research, financial and statistical analysis to determine and support the credit worthiness and/or transaction viability of new and existing client opportunities.
  • Build and gain knowledge base and capabilities within designated industry sector(s) and stay abreast of industry trends from reliable known sources: Capital IQ, Thomson Financial, Bloomberg etc.
  • Maintains a high standard of integrity, ethics and compliance. Identifies opportunities and takes action to enhance compliance within own organization. Promotes reputation and social responsibility; seeks and maintains external relationships and alliances, strengthening the company's impact on and reputation in the community and the industry. Represents Synovus in a positive and professional manner.
  • Each team member is expected to be aware of risk within their functional area. This includes observing all policies, procedures, laws, regulations and risk limits specific to their role. Additionally, they should raise and report known or suspected violations to the appropriate Company authority in a timely fashion.
  • Participates in special projects and performs other related duties as needed.

Minimum Education:
  • Currently enrolled in bachelor's degree program at an accredited college or university with major course work in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or related discipline. Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, which is reflective of all college coursework.
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
  • Critical thinking and problem solving skills.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office software products, including advanced Excel skills.
Additional Information
Our Corporate Summer Internship runs for 10 weeks in the summer - June - August 2023. The ideal candidate would be rising college Juniors  and Seniors.
