Security Software Engineer Intern

Job Responsibilities 
The Security team within the Global Network and Technologies business is responsible for the overall security for our access networks and terminals, as we connect all kinds of users to Viasat’s world class satellite networks, including residential home users in the United States and abroad, airline passengers, government and military personnel, and rural communities.
We’re looking for a highly motivated and dedicated Security Engineer to help us achieve the strategic direction of security at Viasat. The candidate will help groups architect and build secure applications and products, as well as maintain and improve the posture of applications and systems. This individual will have an endless drive to work with business units to help secure their platforms in addition to becoming their trusted security liaison. As part of this team, you will be involved in developing, integrating, and testing the latest software security features and automating interactions with the product software to support continuous deployment to production, and continuous verification. Being a member of the Security team gives you exposure to a wide variety of Viasat’s projects such as partnerships with media streaming service providers, hybrid satellite and terrestrial Internet solutions, and the ViaSat-3 next generation satellite.

Requirements
*Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related subject area
*Strong interpersonal and communication skills
*Proficiency coding in Python, C, C++, or related
*Experience or exposure to Linux
*Strong communication and collaboration skills
*Ability to pick up new software, tools, frameworks, and APIs
*Ability to commit to a 10-12 week internship


Preferences
* Degree major or minor in cryptography or cybersecurity
* Previous experience in automation, software test, or software development
* Knowledge or experience with cloud engineering or security
* Experience working in a DevSecOps environment
