Summer Camp Counselor

Camp Chen-A-Wanda is one of the hottest camps in the United States, with staff coming to us from all over the world. Our camp is located in Northeastern Pennsylvania and has over 500 campers ages 7-16 come and stay with us every summer from late June to mid-August. Our staff comprises nearly 300 adults from all over the U.S. and from the U.K., Europe, Australia, Mexico, and more! You'll be making friends from all over the world while working in a fun and supportive environment. Our stunning campus sits on pristine Fiddle Lake in the gorgeous rolling hills near the Pocono Mountains.

Our programming is second-to-none with every sport imaginable, from water sports to outdoor adventure with ATVs to arts & crafts and much more! We have become one of the most successful camps by valuing our staff and embracing the undeniable fact that the happier a staff member is, the better our camp will be. Working at Camp Chen-A-Wanda will be a life-changing opportunity for you, and the experience itself is what keeps our staff members coming back year after year. We work around the clock to provide our staff members with the best extra-curricular experiences in the industry. We offer a welcoming culture where everyone feels like they're a part of the community from the moment they set foot in our camp. Staff will receive pay at the end of the summer and be given room and board for their entire 9-week stay at camp (June 9 - August 12, 2023). Travel bonuses are negotiable based on experience and skill set as well as expenses in coming to camp.
Every year we search for dynamic staff members to fill our most crucial roles at camp. The prominent roles we recruit are General Counselors, Specialist Counselors, and Division Heads. Each of these roles can be simply a fantastic summer job or tie to your school internship program as a paid internship in numerous fields of study!

General Counselors live in a bunk with approximately a dozen campers and 3-4 other counselors/specialists. They will work with this same group of campers all summer long, forming incredible bonds as these campers become your little brothers/sisters for the summer. General Counselors take their campers to every activity on the schedule, meaning that a General Counselor gets to do everything on camp! When it's time for waterskiing, prepare to jump into the lake! When it's time for baseball, throw on a baseball glove! The General Counselor role is the best way to get the whole authentic camp experience.

Specialists are counselors who live in a bunk with a group of campers and counselors. Unlike a General Counselor, when the activity day begins, a Specialist will leave their group to teach, coach, and instruct at their specialty area. For example, lifeguards will head to the waterfront. Adventure Specialists will head to the climbing tower. Soccer Specialists will head to the soccer fields. A Specialist meets every group of campers throughout the summer as they visit that specialty area while also forming unique bonds with their group of campers. We look for Specialists in the following areas: lifeguarding, boating, waterskiing, arts & crafts, ceramics, dance, Zumba, fitness training, guitar, drums, piano, rock-climbing, golf, archery, mountainboarding, skateboarding, ATV, baseball, basketball, soccer, tennis, hockey, lacrosse, softball, football, circus trapeze, gymnastics, videography/photography, and more!

Division Heads are staff members in charge of a division of campers and their staff. Requirements include being at least 21 years old or having a university degree. Teaching program students or graduates preferred but not required. Must be organized and able to inspire dozens of children and staff! Bonuses are paid for Division Heads with Teaching Credentials and Master's Degrees in Education!

Life-changing opportunities await in all of our vacant positions! So make an impact and apply here today!

In regards to Internships, some educational institutions require prior approval before the start of an internship. It is the responsibility of the student to check with their institution to be sure they meet any requirements before they accept a position.
