Psychiatric/DD Nurse ALL Shifts Available (RN's Only)

 This position is located in Cincinnati, Ohio 
 
The mission of the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (OhioMHAS) is to provide statewide leadership of a high-quality mental health and addiction prevention, treatment and recovery system that is effective and valued by all Ohioans.
 
** Work Hours: 8 hour: 1st Shift 6:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. | 2nd Shift 2:30 p.m. - 11:00 p.m. | 3rd Shift 10:45 p.m. - 6:45 a.m. 
              12 hour: 1st Shift 6:30 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. | 2nd Shift 10:30 a.m. - 11:00 p.m. | 3rd Shift 6:45 p.m. - 6:45 a.m.  
                                      Every other weekend rotation

**Summit Behavioral Healthcare (SBH) offers Psychiatric/DD Nurse a $1.25 shift differential pay for 2nd and 3rd shift full time, permanent employees. In addition to that SBH also offers 8%supplemental pay for 2nd and 3rd shift full time, permanent employees
**Per the 1199/SEIU bargaining unit contract, effective the pay period that includes July 1, 2023, the pay schedule shall increase by 3%

What You'll Do:
  • Assesses & evaluates nursing & medical needs of patients who are hospitalized (e.g., admissions, ongoing treatment, discharges); initiates & directs implementation of nursing care plan; observes, evaluates & records patient behavior, condition & response to medication, treatments & therapeutic activities; provides professional nursing care (e. g., administers medications & treatments as ordered by physician, educates patient on medication(s), assists with physical examinations, takes & records vital signs, performs venipuncture); responds to emergency situations (e.g., codes, suicide, assault).
  • Directs delivery of & evaluates psychiatric & nursing care of patients as delivered by professional & nonprofessional staff (e.g., licensed practical nurse (i.e., LPN), therapeutic program workers (i.e., TPW)) on assigned shift, monitors LPN medication administration, documentation, patient care & operation of medical equipment (e.g., stethoscope, blood pressure monitor, glucometer); precepts & provides support for nursing staff as assigned.
  • Prepares, reviews, implements & updates records/reports/plans (e.g., individual treatment plans, incidents, restraints/seclusions, nursing care plans, shift reports, transfers, admissions & discharges); transcribes &/or verifies doctors' orders; writes nursing summaries; participates in ongoing performance improvement/quality assurance.
  • Serves as interdisciplinary treatment team member; performs variety of miscellaneous duties (e.g., light housekeeping in patient areas & living quarters; identifies & reports safety concerns; attends & completes required trainings & educational programs; schedules unit shift breaks/lunch).

What You'll Do:
Serves as a member of the Mahoning County Intensive Treatment Team & reports to the Intensive Treatment Team Clinical Supervisor; responsibilities include initial health assessment of clients upon entry to CSN to initiate an Individual Service Plan (ISP) based on nursing process & medical necessity; assists client to develop & achieve health & wellness goals & documents response in progress notes; reviews ISP’s for relevant treatment planning related to medical/somatic & medical/clinical issues; participates in treatment team meetings & works with other Intensive Treatment Team members to coordinate services from a team perspective; responsible for medication supervision including the provision for medication education to clients/non-clinical staff & assisting with coordination of medication monitoring of clients for other Intensive Treatment Team staff; assess for & reports medication side effects or issues related to clients taking meds; medication administration & monitoring as required; coordinates & tracks annual health assessments including health history questionnaires, TB tests, history & physicals; & client quarterly & or monthly labs, metabolic syndrome data & initiates interventions in response; will maintain/maximize productivity service hours & organize client visits with respect for Medicaid service caps; maintains 90% of productivity hours per month of client contact; all notes will be submitted according to policy.
Assists client in keeping clinic appointments by referral & traveling with client if needed; monitors client nutrition, medical & dental condition; assists clients in coping with medical/emotional problems, monitors cleanliness of client living area; advocates for client with family; offers referral for client/family support or intervention; provides clients with assistance in personal life planning, goals, purposes, choice & develops treatment plan with client.
Attends case conferences & pertinent meetings with CSN staff & other agencies as required regarding resources for the client; attends all required meetings, seminars & in-services; completes all required records, reports, service documentation & travel expense forms; responds to request for specialized reports concerned with services provided/client progress; performs other duties as assigned; complies with all training required by NBH, CSN & nursing licensure; practices good public relations techniques (i.e., professional, helpful friendly voice & attitude) when greeting & interacting with visitors, clients & the community at large in order to increase customer satisfaction; utilize OhioMHAS approved office productivity software, approve intra & internet resources & information systems in an appropriate work related manner as specified by NBH Personal Computer Usage Guidelines for Employees; access computer to review policy & procedure manual; follows established safety practices & procedures.

Qualifications

 
Requires current license as registered professional nurse in state of Ohio as issued by Board of Nursing per Section 4723.03 of Revised Code.
 
Knowledge of professional nursing procedures; psychiatric or developmentally disabled nursing*; employee training & development*; state & federal regulations, policies & procedures as related to nursing; public relations*; counseling*. Skill in operation of medical equipment. Ability to deal with some abstract but mostly concrete variables; write meaningful, concise & accurate reports; demonstrate physical fitness.
