2023 Summer Intern: Innovation & Automation Intern (Product Manager/Automation Engineer Intern)

What you'll do...

Walmart is building the Supply Chain of the future that will achieve success through innovative, driven and dynamic engineering leaders who will leverage their expertise around automation, engineering and retail to design and implement market changing capabilities for our distribution, fulfilment, and retail centers. You’ll sweep us off our feet if you have…  

  • An excitement for solving complex problems that shape the future of supply chain.
  • Designed, implemented, and/or improved automation technology in both new or established environments.
  • Demonstrated the ability to adapt automation to retail distribution or fulfillment applications.
  • Have hands-on experience sourcing and manipulating data to support your recommendations to leadership.
  • The ability to communicate technical needs of the situation in order to fully integrate product, automation and operations partners to ensure a sustainable solution.
  
You’ll make an impact by: 
  • Defining vision and strategies for automation technologies through gathering requirements, building business cases, and solving implementation challenges
  • Integrating large-scale automation technology for distribution centers that enhances safety, quality, service, operational efficiencies, and OEE
  • Implementing efficiencies and best practices in automation and operations to help speed the delivery and quality of products
  • Growing, influencing, and managing high-visibility key relationships

What you will need:
  • Degree in engineering or computer science
  • Previous internship and leadership experience
  • Experience using data analysis, design, and presentation software (ex. SQL, CAD)
  • Understanding of algorithms, processes, and technology to recommend and implement solutions

Support Structure: During the 11 week internship, you will have the opportunity to lead a project with support from a dedicated manager and mentor. Both your manager and mentor will be engineering leaders currently working on the team. There is a robust training plan that will combine classroom with the on the floor experiences. You will also receive regular feedback throughout to support your growth and development. The internship will end with a presentation where you have the opportunity to share out your project learnings and recommendations with executive level leadership.
