Corporate Compliance Intern

CORPORATE COMPLIANCE INTERN

This hourly part-time internship can be based anywhere in the U.S. remotely but is preferred in Austin, TX. You can choose your schedule, planning for approximately 15 hours a week with additional hours available. This internship can commence with your availability with an end date anticipated for April 7, 2023. Hours will be available, but not required from December 21st through January 6th.
 
Job Summary: 
This internship provides exposure to the functions of a corporate Legal and Compliance department and participation in processes and activities for a national medical professional liability insurance carrier. The intern will assist with administrative and clerical projects for the Legal and Compliance function and will also receive experience in legal research, auditing, and regulatory compliance. This intern can expect to gain knowledge of both general and insurance-specific compliance practices through projects that directly affect the Company’s business and involve interactions with various business groups, attorneys, and corporate leaders. 
 
Qualifications:

  • College or university undergraduate junior or senior focusing on pre-law, finance, insurance, audit, risk management, business, or compliance
  
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
 
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work with accuracy while meeting deadlines
 
  • Most recent GPA of 3.0 minimum from an accredited institution
 
Specific Duties:

  • Maintaining electronic company records
 
  • Researching and analyzing statutes, regulations, and administrative rules at the state and federal level. 
 
  • Reviewing company initiatives through research and analysis of laws and company policies
 
  • Compiling and analyzing data for inter-company reporting functions
 
  • Preparing applications and reports to fulfill governmental licensing requirements
 
  • Drafting inter-company documentation, reports, and compliance recommendations
 
  • Assisting with inter-departmental requests for compliance analysis of business processes in areas of marketing, underwriting, sales, claims and business operations
 
  • Verifying that company policies and operations comply with internal and external requirements on a special project basis
 
  • Collaborating on special projects and general duties specific to compliance as assigned
