We are looking for a talented Financial Analysts / Accountants to join our team specializing in Accounting and Finance for our Corporate Business in Columbus, IN and/or your remote home office.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
  • Financial Analyst / Accountant - Provide financial and business analysis support. Prepare journal entries for Month-end close. Monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts. Maintain Internal Control Documentation (Sarbanes-Oxley). Lead, as well as participate, in process improvement efforts (Six Sigma). Financial Liaison for Non-Finance Leaders, providing reporting and analysis support
  • Financial Analyst – Finance Development Program - Assignments will include experience in several of the following areas: accounting close, reporting, forecasting, capital analysis, fixed assets, product cost, inventory, budgeting, payables, credit and collections, intercompany transactions, internal controls review and testing, Sarbanes-Oxley implementation, internal audits, process improvements, and problem resolution
To be successful in this role you will need the following:
Financial Analyst
  • Provide financial and business analysis support.
  • Prepare statistical reporting, including financial performance, variance, and cost analysis.
  • Involved in the annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Involved in the month-end close process, including the preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • You will also be a liaison for non-finance leaders, providing reporting and analysis support.
Accountant
  • Compiles, consolidates, and conducts basic analysis of accounting and finance information.
  • Examines a variety of financial statements and transactions for accuracy, completeness, and conformance with accounting standards.
  • Conducts month-end close activities and reconciliations of balance-sheet accounts.
  • Maintains internal control documentation (Sarbanes-Oxley), along with process improvement efforts.
  • You will also be a liaison for non-finance leaders, providing reporting and analysis support.
Risk Insurance Analyst
  • Assists in the day-to-day management and operations of the Corporate Risk Insurance department.
  • Supports the Risk Insurance team in the coordination and placement of the Company’s global Commercial insurance programs (property, umbrella, liability, cargo, etc.) by preparing various insurance reports and analyses.
  • Reviews risk management and insurance data and policies to assist in decision making.
  • Analyze insurance, loss engineering reports and related items in order to mitigate the Company’s exposures to potential loss.
Audit Analyst
  • Assists in the execution of financial and/or operational audits.
  • Reviews financial and operational procedures to determine whether internal controls are being properly executed.
  • Tests and documents financial and systemic records for information system integrity and transaction accuracy.
  • Prepares formal written reports that communicate audit results to management, making recommendations as appropriate.
Tax Accountant
  • Executes projects related to the application of tax laws, including tax research.
  • Prepares state, local, and federal tax returns.
  • Analyzes and summarizes tax information. Assists with data gathering and support of tax audits.
Finance Systems Support Analyst
  • Supports the implementation, administration, and ongoing maintenance of finance systems.
  • Develops an understanding of financial, accounting and treasury concepts and how to apply them to finance systems.
  • Supports the development, testing, and delivery of systems improvement initiatives.
  • Partners with finance systems team members, information technology teams and project management specialists to develop, test and deliver finance system applications.
  • Works with end users in developing customized reports and ad hoc analysis.
Degree Programs Considered: Bachelor’s, Master’s
Major Programs Typically Considered: Finance, Accounting, Economics, Management Information Systems, or Risk Insurance
Cummins Internship program criteria :
  • Must be a full-time enrolled student pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree
  • Minimum 2.5 GPA
  • Must be able to complete a minimum of 10 weeks or a maximum of 12 weeks commitment
  • Must be able to complete 40 hours per week
  • Willingness to learn from others on the job
Compensation and Benefits
Base salary rate commensurate with education level.
