Your Role and Responsibilities
Start and end dates for this Internship are during Summer 2023 (3 months) at IBM Research.

We are seeking college and graduate students in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or similar programs with proven interest in implementing innovative software solutions and applications. You will be part of a highly motivated and skilled team incubating a new business for IBM with the goal of accelerating science and societal impact, focusing especially in chemistry, materials, biomedical sciences, climate, and sustainability. You will work in close collaboration with researchers, engineers, and scientists to design, code, test, document, and support industry-leading solutions that make scientific discovery faster.
Candidates would need to work in one of the following locations: Almaden, CA; Yorktown Heights, NY; Cambridge, MA.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
- Enthusiasm for science, software engineering and the intersection of both
- Desire to improve quality of life, the planet and environment, and sustainability through the application of science and technology
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and multi-task in a fast paced, changing, and agile development environment
- Effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Programming skills and system building/debugging/testing skills
Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
- Experience with software development languages such as Python, Go, R, Julia, or JavaScript/TypeScript, etc. and their ecosystems of tools and libraries
- Experience with cloud-native environments (such as AWS and services such as S3, lambda, CloudTrails, etc. or other cloud vendors)
