Basic Purpose

Savings Products Division (SPD) is focused on creating an exceptional deposit product suite and tool kit to enable our membership to meet their savings and financial goals throughout their financial journey. As a team, we drive forward the product strategy, pricing and servicing of members checking, savings, money market, certificate, and IRA products. 

Navy Federal Membership is growing rapidly, and the financial industry is ripe for deposit innovation. Savings and deposit products are something that most consumers interact with daily, and our membership is no different. SPD is continuously evolving to maximize engagement from members and team members, taking advantage of data insights, improving processes, and enhancing system capabilities to ensure an optimal member experience. 

The Summer Associate Graduate Intern will report to leadership at our Vienna, VA campus. Responsibilities will include analyzing business needs to develop and implement solutions that leverage systems and processes to provide new functionality. Areas of focus may include involvement in cross-organizational task groups concerning new systems or products as well as developing, recommending, and documenting enhancements to workflows to streamline processes and among other things. It will be essential for the team member in this position be a resourceful problem solver and a quick learner to understand the evolving product strategy and competitive landscape to be able to suggest product, system, or process enhancements to drive the strategic vision through technology.

This role will be a member of the Strategic and Operational Analysis (SOA) group - a diverse group of analysts looking to enable and support members overall financial well-being. The SOA team has a wealth of expertise in Project and Program Management, Business Intelligence, Workforce Analytics, Product Strategy, Business Systems, and Process Improvement. We apply these skills daily as we represent Savings Products on initiatives, plan and execute on strategy, and support executive leadership in the execution of the strategic direction and roadmap.

The Summer Associate Graduate Intern Program is a 10+ week graduate internship program beginning in May 2023 and ending in August 2023. The intention of this program is to hire graduate interns who prove their aptitude into full time roles following graduation. To qualify for this position, applicants must be currently pursuing a graduate or PhD level degree from an accredited college or university with an anticipated graduation date of December 2023 or later.

Responsibilities

•   Assess the competitive landscape and emerging financial technology players to identify best practices, shifting trends, and areas of opportunity 
•   Participate in cross-organizational task groups concerning new automated systems, products and/or services 
•   Work with project teams to plan, coordinate and rollout software change/release to Controlled Testing and Production, obtain required approvals as scheduled, and transition project to Production
•   Partner with other business units and vendors to improve procedures, resolve problems, and implement initiatives, and present recommendations and results to management
•   Implement new/enhanced products, services and/or operational changes 
•   Develop and present proposal on findings from analysis and research to management up to and including senior executives
•   Become integrated into and participate in the day-to-day strategy, analysis, and operations of the team

Qualifications

•   Currently pursuing a graduate degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or other related degree
•   Effective skill identifying and analyzing business requirements and recommending solutions 
•   Experience in problem resolution including determining root cause, scope, and scale of issues
•   Experience in managing multiple priorities independently and/or in a team environment to achieve goals
•   Good communication and presentation skills
•   Strong strategic, critical, and analytical thinking skills
•   Basic knowledge of financial services/payments a plus

Navy Federal is now hybrid! Our standard enterprise requirement for a hybrid schedule is to report on-site 4-16 days each month. The number of days reporting on-site will ultimately be determined by the employee's leadership and business unit needs. You will learn more throughout the hiring and on boarding process.

Salary Range: $41.00 - $46.00 hourly
