Basic Purpose

The Business Intelligence Center of Excellence (BI CoE) resides in the new Enterprise Transformation Office (ETO) and is at the epicenter of the enterprise’s cloud data transformation. The team’s responsibilities include spearheading BI training and adoption across the enterprise, supporting new BI capability builds every quarter, as well as being a key stakeholder in BI architecture and governance strategy for the organization. The Summer Associate stepping into this team will have the opportunity to learn Business Intelligence in a practical business setting. They will be able to see firsthand how influential, and persuasive well executed Business Intelligence can be and how data accessibility is key to driving business results for a Credit Union at scale. 

The Summer Associate Graduate Intern Program is a 10+ week graduate internship program beginning in May 2023 and ending in August 2023. The intention of this program is to hire graduate interns who prove their aptitude into full time roles following graduation. To qualify for this position, applicants must be currently pursuing a graduate or PhD level degree from an accredited college or university with an anticipated graduation date of December 2023 or later.

Potential project(s):
 
•   Successful delivery of one MVP BI Deliverable for the summer term
•   Successfully leading one training cohort of business end users through BI Adoption training program
•   Leading an enterprise-wide BI training session in the cloud
•   Creation and delivery of a BI User Group tips & tricks session
•   Creation of corporate BI design templates
•   Development of enterprise-wide icon repository

Responsibilities

•   Develop, maintain, and manage advanced reporting, dashboards, and BI solutions
•   Accurately translate requirements into data solutions for reporting purposes
•   Analyze data to identify known and unknown data relationships and patterns
•   Analyze and validate data and test accuracy of dashboards
•   Produce tools and libraries that enable Data Analysts and Data Scientists to easily and consistently produce standard visualizations and charts
•   Translate data using graphical representations by producing reports and dashboards using real-time analytics and large, complex datasets
•   Recognize potential issues and risks during the analytics project implementation and suggest realistic mitigation strategies 
•   Lead the preparation of high-quality project deliverables that are valued by the business and present them in such a manner that they are easily understood by project stakeholders
•   Offer improvements to the way in which leaders visualize the entire analytic service function
•   Understand data gaps and tie data components together for visualization purposes
•   Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

•   Currently pursuing a graduate degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Data Analytics, or other related field
•   Demonstrates a deep understanding behind the visualization of data components
•   Working knowledge of various data structures and formats and the ability to extract data from various data sources (such as Azure SQL, Microsoft SQL Server, etc.)
•   Interest in understanding the concepts and application of business intelligence and utilizing data requirements
•   Demonstrates functional knowledge of data visualization tools such as Microsoft Power BI, Databricks SQL Analytics, Tableau, Cognos Analytics, Matplotlib, and ggplot2
•   Working knowledge of various data structures and the ability to manipulate data within visualization tools
•   Ability to manipulate raw data into effective visualization dashboards
•   Ability to communicate end to end data outcomes visually
•   Ability to develop analytic insights, charts, and tables using disparate data sources and transform data into visual dashboards that are useful to the business and aid effective decision making
•   Understanding of statistical practices to analyze current and historical data to make predictions and identify risks and opportunities, enabling better decisions on planned/future events
•   Ability to understand the business problem and determine what aspects of it require optimization; articulate those aspects in a clear and concise manner
•   Knowledge of and the ability to perform advanced statistical analysis such as measures of central tendency, normal distribution, variance, standard deviation, basic tests, correlation, and regression techniques
•   Ability to view and understand other project or functional areas in order to consolidate analytical needs and processes
•   Experience in sourcing, maintaining, and updating data 
•   Understanding of data integration, data cleaning, data pipelines and other analytical techniques for modeling
•   Functional understanding of SQL and querying
•   Exceptional presentation and communication skills

Navy Federal is now hybrid! Our standard enterprise requirement for a hybrid schedule is to report on-site 4-16 days each month. The number of days reporting on-site will ultimately be determined by the employee's leadership and business unit needs. You will learn more throughout the hiring and on boarding process.

Salary Range: $41.00 - $46.00 hourly
