
Bioinformatics Research Assistant

Location: Boca Raton, Florida
Job Description:
The College of Medicine is seeking multiple Bioinformatics Research Assistants who can assist in development of bioinformatics pipelines and analyze genomics data for a Bioinformatics and Computational Genomics laboratory which focuses on high-throughput genomic sequencing data analyses, software development, and genomic medicine.
The Research Assistant will perform all tasks under the supervision of the principal investigator.
Responsibilities include:
· Assist in RNA-Seq, WGS, and/or methylome data analysis, particularly transposable element-related analyses
· Perform quality assurance and quality control analysis of bioinformatics pipelines and workflows
· Method selection using comparative analysis and benchmarking of available tools
· Design and implement bioinformatics tools and pipelines
· Maintain accurate records of methods, software, and parameters used in projects for reproducibility
· Draft reports for investigations or original manuscripts for publication based on analysis results or software development
· Performing other job-related duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
Required
· Bachelor’s degree required
· Familiarity with Linux command lines required
Preferred
· Background in bioinformatics, computational biology, computer science, data science, or related biological disciplines preferred
· Familiarity with HPC preferred
· Strong analytical and organizational skills preferred
· Ability to identify and troubleshoot errors preferred
· Excellent oral, inter-personal and written communication skills as well as ability to work independently preferred
