2022/2023 ICBM Infrastructure Engineering Intern / Co-op Pipeline [Civil, GIS, CAD, Structural, Environmental]

BAE Systems is seeking an exceptional Intern or Co-op for an exciting opportunity to support the Air Force's Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) program. Please note, this is a placeholder position used to collect resumes from interested applicants in the majors listed in the requirements. You will only be contacted as funded positions that match your skillset are opened.

Why BAE Systems? BAE Systems is the third largest defense contractor in the world with an exceptional, mission-focused culture. The 800+ BAE Systems employees and sub-contractors located at Hill Air Force Base, Utah are closely aligned to the United States Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center. We support the Center in sustaining the existing LGM-30 Minuteman III (MM III) weapon system. The MM III is a strategic nuclear weapon system dispersed in hardened silos to protect against attack, and connected to an underground launch control center through a system of hardened cables. Over 50 years of continuous modernization programs have resulted in new versions of the missile, expanded targeting options, and improved accuracy and survivability. These enhancements serve to keep the MM III viable as until the mid-2030s, when the system is scheduled to be replaced by the future GBSD ICBM now in development.

BAE Systems is also an integral part of the development, deployment, and sustainment of the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) ICBM Program. This program is set to modernize the entire ICBM weapon system to secure and support a newly designed, technologically advanced ballistic missile. It is a long-term project that will remain operational until at least 2075.

We are also expanding our scope with our expertise in ICBMs to assist Department of Defense efforts in launching satellites and with other space-related defense projects.

We are a uniquely-valued mission partner delivering daily technical excellence and innovative solutions to our government customers. BAE Systems has earned accolades as a “Top Workplace” in Utah based on employee feedback for several consecutive years, earning special distinction for providing a healthy work-life balance for our valued employees. We work very hard to ensure this is a great place to work!

Tell me about this job. This posting is to identify interns or co-ops for our cohort of interns for 2022. You will be using your learned engineering skills to assist in the sustainment or system engineering in one of our program areas and begin your training to become a subject matter expert and adviser to the US Air Force in ICBM technology. This position will be assigned to infrastructure and deployment within GBSD.

Internships are paid and internships often lead to full-time job offers in the program.
