Education and Meetings Intern

NHPCO is proud to step forward to offer a unique internship opportunity for college students or recent graduates to learn about hospice and palliative care, to learn how associations work based on member committees and feedback and to gain practical professional experience. This is also a chance to help further NHPCO’s mission and, through our work, improve the quality of care given to those at the end-of-life and facing serious illnesses.

  • Start of internship: January 2023
  • Internship duration: 3 to 4 months
  • Number of hours per week required: 10 hours minimum
  • Reports to: Education Director and Education Specialist
  • Telework eligibility: Yes
  • Salary: $15/hour

General responsibilities include, but not limited to:
The National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization is leading the way in enhancing its in-person meetings and education offerings of online learning, live webinars, and other education opportunities. As NHPCO’s Education Intern, you will play an integral role in developing and coordinating professional education and meetings for our members.

  • Assist with coordinating live and virtual events and online learning.
  • Support logistics, planning and execution of NHPCO’s Interdisciplinary Conference 2023 (virtual – April 24-26).
  • Audit online learning courses in various formats (live and on-demand) for continuity of content and to learn about the hospice and palliative care community.
  • Provide suggestions on course catalog.
  • Organize (Vimeo) and edit faculty videos.
  • Assist with uploading and organizing educational content into the Learning Management System.
  • Review and revamp Education webpages and resources; provide feedback and recommendations for clarification/improvement.
  • Gain experience from association staff members and hospice and palliative care leaders.  
  • Fulfill any requirements and meet goals set at the start of the Internship.

Experience/Qualifications
  • Pursing a degree in Communications, Research, or Public Health is preferred.
  • Excellent written, verbal, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Superb attention to detail.
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Excellent time management skills.
