Based on our 250-acre campus in Rhinebeck, New York, Camp Ramapo is Ramapo for Children’s residential summer camp that serves young people with a diverse set of needs and abilities. Some of our campers are on the Autism Spectrum, while others require greater support due to trauma, stress, or other disabilities. We believe ALL young people want the same things: to learn, to feel valued, and to experience success.
As a Ramapo staff member, you will develop the skills you need to succeed with a broad range of young people. Through orientation, ongoing training, and hands-on experience, our staff gain skills in adapting to individual needs and skill levels, creating inclusive learning environments, de-escalation techniques, and reflective practice. Many of our staff go on to pursue careers in the fields of Education, Psychology, Social Work, and Human Services with the foundations of learning they gained at Ramapo.
A summer at Ramapo acts as an internship experience for many of our staff. We are happy to work with you to fulfill the internship requirements of your specific program, including hours and supervision. A college course of up to 6 credits is available to all of our staff, in addition to ongoing training and coaching.
Qualifications:
Many counselors are students and emerging professionals in the fields of special education, social work, psychology, and related fields, but no previous experience in this type of work is necessary. We do ask you to exemplify the following: patience, commitment, a readiness to learn, and a willingness to be of service to others.
Hours per week: 40+
Wage/Salary: $2,300 (+ travel stipend, college credits, room and board included)
Employment Start: 6/17/2023
Employment End: 8/18/2023 OR 8/26/2023
Work Schedule: 6/17/2023-8/18/2023 OR 7/23/2023-8/26/2023
