Merchandising Supplier Diversity Internship (Summer 2023)

This Summer 2023 Internship will be a 12-week internship starting on May 15th, 2023 and ending on August 4th, 2023. Working at our Store Support Center in Brentwood, Tennessee. As an intern, you will work alongside TSC professionals in a variety of areas to make a real impact on our business. You will have the opportunity to work on projects in the department, get exposure to day-to-day operations and have a successful and meaningful internship.

Supplier Diversity is the practice of intentionally utilizing businesses owned and controlled by Minority, Women, LGBTQ+, Veteran, and Disabled persons within an organization’s supply chain. Supplier Diversity professionals are the bridge between diverse businesses and the companies they wish to support. This intern role will support Tractor Supply Co (TSC) Merchandising team in driving the company toward best-in-class Supplier Diversity performance. 
 
As an intern with the Supplier Diversity team, you will work on high-quality projects where you will gain valuable experience while delivering work that makes a difference. We strive to provide our interns a meaningful experience and consider TSC for a full-time career post-graduation.

What You Will Do
  • Support Merchandising Operations with implementing a Supplier Diversity Program
  • Develop Supplier Information Packets - The intern will leverage existing documentation and create new content to develop quick reference resources to educate prospective suppliers on doing business with TSC – processes, stakeholder roles, and requirements based on product and service categories.
  • Support the development and communication of Supplier Diversity through passion for increasing influence throughout
  • Support the set up and development of a supplier diversity software tool
  • Tier I Spend Management – The intern will assist Supplier Diversity leadership in getting current suppliers to register in third party diversity solutions portal, supporting progress toward the company diversity spend targets.
  • Identify, gather, and analyze/research complex data sets utilizing a variety of tools (a combination of agreements, surveys, scorecards, etc.) to enhance the reporting process and provide clear actionable insight to the Supplier Diversity leadership team
  • Problem solve and support supplier diversity reporting
  • Data Analysis – The intern will analyze reported diversity spend to determine baseline, challenges, and areas of opportunity that may be utilized to enhance and influence diverse spending strategies.
  • Support the design, build, and implementation of key performance indicators and targets to monitor the influence of our sourcing efforts and drive a greater understanding of how suppliers are managing topics such as economic growth, regulatory compliance, and strained supply chain more effectively
  • Provide logistical support to the team focused on enhancing TSC's reputation in varied communities through engagement in conferences, summits, and other industry events
  • Conference and Event Planning – The intern will collaborate with Supplier Diversity leadership to organize match-making sessions with potential suppliers, coordinate conference and Non-Government Organization (NGO) events participation

Qualifications
  • Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Procurement, or related field
  • Must be a Junior standing or higher
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA or above
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Programs
  • Must be detail-orientated, organized, and able to work independently
  • Self-motivated and results-driven individual who will make an impact while utilizing strong written and verbal skills to communicate effectively
