Writing, Marketing and Donor Engagement internship

This internship is an opportunity to learn and contribute to multiple facets of MCC’s Communications and Donor Relations work. The Writing, Marketing and Donor Engagement intern will thank segments of MCC donors for gifts received and summarize input received from donors. This intern will also work with MCC’s graphic designer and senior editor to research and write copy for MCC’s publications and marketing campaigns. If it fits the successful candidate’s skill set, some graphic design projects may be included within this internship.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
Specific Tasks and Duties:
·      Write thank-you cards and make thank-you calls to donors (training will be provided).
·      Assist with tabulating, summarizing, and analyzing donor surveys
·      Write short copy for marketing campaigns (email, advertising, social, etc.)
·      Assist graphic designer with small design projects
·      Write articles and prepare content as needed for Communications and Donor Relations
·      Other duties as assigned on a temporary basis 
 
Travel expectations: No significant travel.
 
Physical Activity/Demands: Choose an item.
·      Remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods of time.
·      Moving about to accomplish tasks or move from one worksite to another.
·      Light work that includes moving objects up to 20 pounds.
·      Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
·      assessing the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of work assigned. Not regularly exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
 
QUALIFICATIONS:

Essential: 
·      Significant familiarity with and good skills in Word, Excel and Outlook.
·      Aptitude to learn and use software donor data entry.
·      Significant familiarity with AP Style and aptitude to learn basics of MCC Stylesheet.
·      Post-high school experience with research (at least one year).
·      Post-high school coursework in writing for marketing, design, fund-raising or public relations (at least one course).
·      Post-high school experience and good skills in writing for marketing, fund-raising or public relations for use in various communications vehicles and platforms.
·      Writing samples (3-5 samples) available.
·      Ability to respect confidentiality of donor information.
·      Self-starter with the ability to both work independently and as part of a team.
·      Detail-oriented and able to meet deadlines.
 
Employment eligibility: Legally eligible to work in the U.S. MCC offers of employment are subject to a successful criminal background check(s).
 
Preferred:
·      Familiarity with InDesign.
