Psychology Internship - Summer 2023
Camp Kippewa is a sleepaway camp in Maine on beautiful Lake Cobbosseecontee! We run two 3 ½ week sessions for around 200 campers that empowers campers to be themselves and try new things. Kippewa is a traditional camp offering activities in arts, waterfront, adventure, equestrian, and sports – staff would have an opportunity to lead and try some of these for themselves.
The summer is successful thanks to a team of 130 staff with 65 of these being counselors. Psychology and Social Work students are always a strong part of this team, both experiencing practical learning and having the opportunity to apply their theoretical learning. Skills and Background Required: An interest in or experience working with children is essential. We will provide additional training at the start of the summer in preparation for camper arrival. Campers physical and emotional well-being is the main priority throughout the summer. A wide range of camper needs are presented during the summer, some of which include;
· Anxiety
· Depression
· ADHD
· Eating Disorders
· Communication Disorders
Number of Positions: 10 positions available
Compensation: Approx. Salary $2,500 + room & board
Duration: Approximately 9 weeks (June 11th through August 13th 2023)
