We are currently looking to hire Mergers & Acquisitions Project Manager Summer Intern into our St. Louis, Mergers & Acquisitions Employee Benefits due diligence team. As part of an industry-leading team, you will assist with advising our clients by delivering innovative and effective solutions as part of our M&A and Transaction Solutions business group.

Your Impact as an M&A Employee Benefits Due Diligence Intern

Employer-sponsored health and welfare benefit programs form the foundation of the U.S. health care system. These programs have evolved over time as employers have attempted to manage the changing needs of employees, rising program costs, and the impact of new legislation while supporting their human resource and business strategies.
Aon M&A Employee Benefits due diligence project managers work directly with our clients to review health and welfare programs, defined contribution retirement plans, executive compensation and any change-in-control obligations that may be triggered due to M&A transactions. Our project managers assist in developing current and pro-forma costs and identifying compliance issues associated with the employee benefits programs. This process involves strategic assessments of the health care market and key trends and the identification of new and innovative solutions to employer as well as regulatory requirements. The technical and analytical skills employee benefit due diligence project managers bring to this process are essential to our M&A consulting.

You Bring Knowledge and Expertise

Suggested Experience:
 
  • The ability to work as an integral part of a team, fostering teamwork and cultivating relationships, as well as work independently or with minimal direction
  • Client and business results-oriented focus
  • Strong interpersonal communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written
  • Desire to learn and display Aon’s values including acting with integrity and displaying a client, colleague and community commitment.
  • Mature, positive, and professional demeanor
  • Strong PC skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel
  • Ability to work on multiple projects at one time
  • Strategic and analytical skills – attention to detail while also being able to draw connections in order to provide overall conclusions
  • Interest in learning about Mergers & Acquisitions and Employee Benefits and how it applies to businesses of all sizes and industries
  • Ability to perform under stress / tight time frames
  • Financial – basic understanding of financial statements and accounting

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with leading employee benefits due diligence projects
  • Work directly with private equity or corporate clients as well as their other outside advisors which typically include accounting, legal and environmental experts
  • Coordinating with internal resources to develop findings including employee benefits teams, actuarial experts, originators and other M&A team members
  • Assist with managing and executing client deliverables including an end of project report, interim email updates and phone conversations
  • Analyze health and welfare and employee benefits coverage, claims history, benefits-related collateral, and employee benefits sections of the draft purchase agreement
  • Work with and assist originators in establishing relationships, converting due diligence targets to ongoing clients and developing opportunities
  • Assist with providing ongoing relationship management oversight to private equity clients
  • Help prepare proposals and make presentations to clients
Applicants for this role, which is part of the Aon Summer Internship Program, should be rising seniors, graduating between December 2023 – June 2024 and have a GPA of 3.0 or above.

Aon’s Summer Internship Program provides a unique opportunity for rising college seniors to learn, contribute, and gain real world work experience in a collaborative environment.   • In addition to on-the-job training, our interns actively participate, along with their fellow intern colleagues, in a formal Development Plan. This provides interns:

  • An understanding of Aon’s ethical standards
  • Training geared toward enabling interns to demonstrate an ability to work in a professional business environment
  • Opportunities to network with fellow peers, Aon colleagues and executive leadership at program social events and interactive speaker forums

  • Opportunities to demonstrate interpersonal and team building skills through many networking events

The goal of the Aon Summer Internship Program is to give students significant exposure to Aon through project deliverables, continuing education and a training curriculum. The program also provides students with an excellent opportunity to learn and prepare for post‐graduate career opportunities at Aon. Upon successful completion of the Aon Summer Internship Program, highly qualified interns may be offered post-graduation full‐time positions within the Launch Program, Aon’s Early Career Development Program.
