Paraprofessional Intern - Engineering & Construction

PROJECT SUMMARY: 
1. Project Title: District-Wide Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO)/Collection System updates in Geographical Information System (GIS)
Project Description: Review of Project-Specific CSO/Collection System line work and GIS Support
  • Review and QC historic and current CSO/Collection systems sewer alignment, facilities and future easement/property data
  • Work with GIS department to enter data into GIS
  • Track and review on-going design project updates
  • Assist in collection system asset condition process for updating, reporting, and management
  • Business process development/analysis and workflow documentation
  • Data analysis and QA/QC
2. Project Title: Various Planning, Plant and Collection System Project Support
Project Description: Support project management activities
  • Assist in procurement of a consultant including assistance in the development of project RFPs
  • Review invoices, progress reports and schedules
  • Assist with review of Project Clean Lake (CSO long-term control plan) program-level project schedules and coordination
  • Sharepoint/Kahua project file maintenance/management
3. Project Title: Geotechnical, Tunnel and CSO/Collections Deliverables review
Project Description: Review project deliverables (Drawings, specifications, reports) and assist PMs with collection and distribution of formal review comments
  • Review drawings, specifications, geotechnical and other reports
  • Assist project PMs with consolidation of comments generated by review team
  • Distribute and track comment resolution as it pertains to project

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Academic Status/Standing:
  • Candidate must be enrolled in school or must have graduated within 24 months from the date of application.
Field of Study:
  • Declared Majors: Civil Engineering or a related field of study
Degree Program Levels:
  • Bachelors degree
  • Master/Doctoral Degree
Minimum Job Requirements:
  • Candidate must be able to work a minimum of 20 up to 40 hours per week. Working hours are Monday - Friday during normal business hours.
  • Candidate must be able to commit to a 6-month assignment with an option to extend the assignment at NEORSD's discretion. This internship program provides for a time-limited role at NEORSD with no express or implied guarantee of future employment beyond the assignment period. This position is governed by all applicable NEORSD administrative policies, practices and procedures related to temporary employees.
  • Candidate must possess a valid driver's license with a driving record in accordance with the District's acceptable guidelines.
The District requires protective footwear (i.e., steel or composite-toed) when working in the plants, pump stations, construction sites, public rights-of-way and other posted areas. New hires are required to have protective footwear, meeting the following criteria, on the first day of employment: 1) Must be ANSI 241-1999 or ASTM F-2412/2413 (2005) certified, 2) Must have a steel or composite protective toe, 3) Must be, at a minimum, a 6" work boot or 6" hiker-style boot (Note: shoes are not permitted), 4) Must have a slip-resistant sole. It is also recommended, but not required, that footwear be waterproof and have included a shank to protect the bottom of the foot.
