Postdoctoral Investigator

Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution is currently searching for a Postdoctoral Investigator to join the Physical Oceanography Department. This is a temporary, full-time, exempt position, and is eligible for benefits. The initial appointment will be for one year with the possibility of a one-year extension.
 
The postdoc would be hired to analyze moored oxygen observations in the subpolar North Atlantic and improve our understanding of biogeochemical cycling and ventilation in this region. This would be achieved through preparing scientific publications and presentations at conferences and seminars. The primary goal of this position is career development, and support will be provided to advance the postdoc’s career goals. The postdoc will gain training and experience in and have opportunities to write their own scientific proposals.

While the primary focus of the work will be in research, the Postdoctoral Investigator will have the opportunity to participate in educational and outreach activities associated with the project.

Essential Functions


Data analysis, scientific inquiry, writing publications, communicating results in meetings, seminars, and other public venues.
 

Education & Experience


  • Ph.D. 
  • The applicant will have a Ph.D. In ocean biogeochemistry and physics as well as a history of scientific publications in that field.
