Manufacturing Systems Intern

Job Description: Manufacturing Systems Intern
 
Bloom Energy, a solid oxide fuel cell company, is looking for a Manufacturing Systems Intern to join its world class team. This individual should be a high-energy, high-initiative self-starter who is hands-on, willing to learn, and looking for a rewarding future in one of today’s most exciting technologies.
 
Location: This position will be based on-site in Newark, DE (no virtual option)
Compensation: This is a paid internship
Start Date: Flexible – This is a 10-12 week summer internship
Additional comments: Off-site regional travel may be required for this role
 
Role and Responsibilities:
·      Assist Manufacturing team with roll out of new Manufacturing Execution System (MES) to capture manufacturing statistics – implementing data collection on the manufacturing floor and data analysis to help identify bottlenecks and areas with high defect rates
·      Be a problem solver: Lead process improvement projects related to Safety, Labor, Cost Reduction, and Process Improvement by working with vendors, technicians, operators, and managers to drive solutions from concept to reality.
·      Collaborate with other departments to ensure all manufacturing protocols meet the highest level of performance, reliability, and safety.
·      High-energy, high-initiative self-starter who is hands-on, willing to learn and work with little direction.
 
Skills and Experience:
·      Enrolled in a 4-year Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Information Technology degree program.
·      Ability to connect and communicate with all levels of employees, prioritizing respect for people
·      Proficiency with SolidWorks, 3D printing, machining and manufacturing processes
·      Ability to obtains and use data to make and validate decisions on changes to processes and labor
·      Ability to work off-site at times to assist projects outside of standard manufacturing facilities
·      Demonstrated record of teamwork, motivating, and coaching employees to excel
·      Proficient in Excel and Powerpoint. Knowledge of Tableau considered a plus.
