AOT Technician IV - Stormwater

The Agency of Transportation (AOT) is seeking two (2) AOT Technical Apprentices. These positions will support work efforts noted under our Federal Highway Work Program and assist in maintaining compliance with Federal Clean Water Act NPDES Permits.

Over the last few years, AOT has been working throughout the state to locate, inspect, and GPS inventory culvert and stormwater collection, conveyance, and treatment systems in our state highway right-of-way. This effort is critical to the asset management efforts of the Highway Division and the Agency's Transportation Separate Storm Sewer System (TS4) permit obligations.

These two positions will use mobile GIS applications and work as a team to inspect and map drainage features/structures such as small culverts, drop inlets, catch basins, and swales along our roadways and on VTrans owned land.

This work requires the ability to traverse rough terrain alongside the state highway for long durations of time. Candidates should be comfortable with the use of Microsoft suite and preferably the ability to navigate using a mobile device such as an iPad.

These positions will be stationed in Berlin, VT out of Central Garage Offices but will mainly work in the Addison County area with some travel to parts of Chittenden and Franklin Counties. Use of a state owned fleet vehicle is encouraged. It is anticipated that these positions will work an estimated 760 hours over 19 weeks (40 hours per week).
