CloseKnit is currently hiring a Data Analytics / Data Scientist Intern to join their team. MPH or MS student with data science experience looking to work deeply on healthcare data analytics
Job Description:
We are looking for an MPH or MS student with data analytics experience who is interested in contributing to care delivery models and wants to work in healthcare data on a deeper level. As a team, we partner together to turn data into meaningful insights that will have a direct impact on patient's lives. Some of the projects that you may be involved in include dashboard creation for new ventures, data analytics discovery to aid in executive business decisions, and management of surfacing new data sources.
The Summer Internship Program allows students the opportunity to work on meaningful projects that will give them valuable experience to continue to grow and develop their skills.
This internship is designed to be a 11-week full-time opportunity beginning May 22, 2023 and concluding August 4, 2023. The Graduate track is ideal for individuals preparing for a professional career in healthcare, data analytics, data architecture, or a healthcare startup venture.
In addition to the day-to-day work supporting their respective tracks, interns will receive a special curriculum which includes ‘lunch and learns’ with CareFirst associates and/or executives, access to ecosystem start-ups, entrepreneurial and healthcare focused workshops, and networking/community building events.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education Level: 
Graduate Track: Actively pursuing a graduate degree in in Public Health or Science or other business-related degree at an accredited college or university during internship
Demonstrates basic, broad understanding of key healthcare industry concepts and has a keen Interest to specialize and advance career in Healthcare Data, analytics, architecture, and design.
Required Abilities/Skills: 
  • Independent thinker and self-starter who can also work as part of a team

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to positively interface with and establish and maintain effective working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

  • Strategic and creative decision maker who can motivate self without constant supervision

  • Attention to detail and excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including assisting with presentations and proposals.

  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to set priorities.

  • Experience creating dashboards, reports, and visualizations from large data sets/models

  • Hands on experience with data analytics, data management, relational databases, machine learning, statistical programming, and visualization

  • Proficiency in BI/Analytics tools such as Power BI, Excel, Tableau, Python, R

  • Experience with programming languages and analytics tools such as Power Query, DAX, SQL, JSON, Python

  • Strong research, analytical, written, and oral communication skills.

  • Ability to demonstrate project management skills and a willingness to learn.

  • Willingness to work with and learn new technologies.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Working knowledge of relational databases and database structures

  • Experience working in an interdisciplinary environment, particularly across engineering and healthcare

  • Experience applying a broad range of statistical, mathematical, or computational approaches using data to resolve problems

  • Experience with source control (git), developing packages, and documentation
