Meteorological Electronics Technician JR - 2870

  • Position is Assigned to Vandenberg SFB, CA
Essential Functions
  • Perform troubleshooting and repair of all assigned meteorological systems electronics equipment  
  • Maintain, modify, test, and calibrate complex electronic computer systems, tracking systems, radar systems, recorders and precision meteorological instruments 
  • Disassemble equipment and check for wear, breakage, corrosion, or other electro/mechanical failures 
  • Perform alignment procedures on complex meteorological electronic systems 
  • Assist in the performance of instrumentation system acceptance testing and in the development of maintenance procedures, test procedures, and work instructions 
  • Perform inventories and internal audits on Government Property under Meteorological Systems responsibility
  • Perform system spares verification per compliance maintenance documentation
  • Perform quality audits and document corrective and preventive maintenance per compliance documentation
  • Support launch operations
  • Perform other tasks as assigned
Required Skills

Required Experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Zero to two years electronics experience and/or knowledge of basic electronic principles are highly desired
  • Ability to become proficient at troubleshooting and repairing electronic hardware and associated support equipment
  • Ability to become proficient in reading schematics and logic circuitry diagrams 
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office products
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
  • Ability to work at heights and capable of servicing Weather Tower instrumentation to 300 feet
  • Must be able to obtain rescue climber certification within 12 months of hire 
  • Ability to occasionally lift or move 50 pounds
  • Flexibility to work occasional non-duty hours or on weekends to support specific project or mission requirements
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance, which includes U.S. citizenship or U.S. naturalization
  • Must be fully vaccinated from the COVID-19 virus, which means two weeks have passed since a single-shot vaccine or the second dose of a two-shot vaccine. Requests for medical or religious accommodations will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License required
  • Salary determined by Collective Bargaining Agreement

The hourly rate for this role is determined by a Collective Bargaining Unit and ranges from $23.77 to $29.67. RGNext considers several factors when extending an offer for employment, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, education/training and preferred skills and knowledge.
