Systems Controller Senior - Meteorological Systems - 2856

This position is located at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station (CCSFS), FL.
This position is not eligible for telecommuting.

Essential Functions

  • Coordinate, review and process Launch and Test Range System (LTRS) Integrated Support Contract (LISC) operating instructions, system operational documents, procedures, and operating instructions as part of the Launch Support team
  • Review range schedules in advance to ensure required instrumentation and customer requirements are met for the respective Range System
  • Conduct pre-test briefings and post-test critiques
  • Provide documentation, real-time work center coordination and systems controller support, to the Eastern Range, during launch tests, simulations and non-test periods
  • Ensure all sites understand procedures during tests and simulations
  • Review test support documentation and system requirements to ensure appropriate system status calls and provide the correct response priority to system personnel
  • Report systems status in accordance with internal operating procedures during launch operations and mission rehearsals
  • Recommend and implement approved changes to operating procedures or methods to improve data quality and performance for future tests
  • Prepare reports and develop procedures
  • Provide System Controller function associated with documenting known or suspected systems failures, assign appropriate resources to investigate/repair failure when required, and ensure all actions are documented professionally and timely in accordance with RGNext requirements
  • Monitor performance and status of all systems during on-console activities including daily, pre-launch and launch activities
  • Innovate process improvements ensuring contract compliance and fulfillment while devising and implementing process improvement methods
  • Recommend, develop, and integrate enterprise Integrated Process Team (IPT) concepts and recommendations to capitalize on Cross Range best practices, efficiencies and standardization 
  • Vigorously pursue initiatives to improve the quality, efficiencies, and timeliness of department and LISC enterprise solutions, products or services
  • Perform other duties as assigned 

Required Skills

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to facilitate technical direction to personnel supporting daily and mission operation activities
  • Ability to make quick and logical decisions and direct others under pressure during launch activities
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude and be reliable in a very dynamic environment
  • Ability to interface with all levels of personnel in a diverse, team-orientated environment
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with employees and the public 

Required Experience

  • AS Degree in Electronic Technology, or two year technical school, equivalent military experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Combined 10 years experience as a Meteorological (Met) Systems technician and/or operator and/or related experience
  • Advanced knowledge of Met Systems instrumentation
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications

  • The flexibility to work non-duty hours or on weekends to support specific project or mission requirements
  • Must be fully vaccinated from the COVID-19 virus, which means two weeks have passed since a single-shot vaccine or the second dose of a two-shot vaccine. Requests for medical or religious accommodations will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance, which includes U.S. citizenship or U.S. naturalization
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License
  • Salary determined by Collective Bargaining Agreement
