Mapping/Drafting Associate

About the Role
Maintains and updates KUB’s utility records, mapping and asset management system using
ESRI, GPS and AutoCAD software. Responsible for using KUB’s engineering IT systems to keep
field assets accurately mapped and create As-Built drawings. Maps new and abandons
utilities including mains, services, and other equipment. Manages record drawings and other
valuable documents needed to maintain a living record system for KUB’s gas system and
serves as a resource for researching historical documents as needed for project planning.
Provide information graphically to effectively manage and support programs. Analyzes data
using Maximo, Excel, and ESRI products. Supports storms and other emergency events.

Physical Requirements
Works primarily in an office setting, but field visits and field activities may be required. These
field visits may include: emergency response activities and support beyond normal business
hours, heavy lifting or strenuous work and mobility over rough terrain. Requires bending,
stooping, lifting, and working in awkward and strenuous positions at times. Occasionally
requires above normal mental and visual alertness. Physical demands for a specific position
within this classification may vary and/or exceed those demands described above.

Minimum Requirements
● Associates degree or Certificate in GIS, Information Technology, Engineering
Technology or similar program
● Good personal computer skills with the ability to learn and use ESRI, AutoCAD, Maximo,
SharePoint and Excel
● Good written and oral communication, interpersonal, and team skills
● Have and maintain a valid driver's license

Preferred Requirements
● Bachelor’s degree in Geographic Information, Engineering Technology, or similar area of
study from an accredited community college or university
● 2+ years experience in the engineering or construction industry, preferably with a public
utility
● Experience with GIS, AutoCAD, Maximo, Access, and Excel
