Geographic Information System (GIS) Analyst (Req ID 4347)

Job Overview

System (GIS) experience relating to geographic analysis of Army defined parameters and/or other factors, image processing, interpretation and application of geographic data digitizing, editing and integration and presentation. The Analyst performing visual and computer quality control checks on facility and/or land base data. Insures map products reflect correct geographic locations of facilities and have standard of cartographic quality. Responsible for supporting the design of projects, construction projects, and facilities maintenance efforts for the site. Responsibilities include GIS system conformance to enable sharing of data sources, as well as performing associated basic surveying work.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties & Job Functions:
Researches original drawings and transcribes information and codes into GIS system; enters info, pulls reports, and creates backup copies from Master GIS database.
Follows Tri-Service standards for file naming and CADD leveling conventions for the general civil/site, utilities, structural, architectural, mechanical, and electrical model file types.
Understand issues and business problems and use GIS to develop geospatial intelligence reports, products and solutions.
Works independently to verify validity of information and assigns attribute information as appropriate using quality assurance/quality control products and editor tools, enters data, reconciles errors
Includes information such as location, design, material, and dimension; interacts with a variety of engineering branches to include such things as new building design, floor plans/structures, roadways/parking areas, land contours/drainage patterns, plumbing, heating, air conditioning, and electrical systems, etc.
Makes site investigations to verify and note details of existing conditions and requirements to ensure all features are reflected on completed drawings, and if layouts require a high degree of precision when used to check coordinate locations, dimensions, and clearances on new facilities/equipment where problems are anticipated.
Translates ideas, rough sketches, specifications, and calculations of engineers, architects, and designers into complete and accurate working drawings for use in structure and system maintenance, repair, or new construction.
Provides CADD drafting and plotting services to internal and external customers as required.
Stores, catalogs, maintains, and updates as-built drawings and ongoing in-house projects, taking action to ensure “as-built” drawings are completed for all projects.
Produces spatial and non-spatial data while ensuring technical accuracy and logical consistency in processing and output.
Performs related work as assigned.

Job Requirements

Mandatory:
Bachelor’s degree in related field.
or five (5) years verifiable GIS field experience
Two (2) years’ experience utilizing GIS software.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Valid state Driver’s License with acceptable driving record pertinent to the position.
Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance at the Secret level per contract requirement.
