Role & Expertise: Operate advanced surveying instruments like theodolites, electronic survey stations, GPS receivers, and more. Be the expert in determining lines, angles, distances, and elevations, as well as making crucial calculations.
Leadership & Development: Lead a small crew on routine jobs, train subordinate staff, and step up as chief of large parties when required.
Competitive Compensation & Increases:
- General wage increases: 5% (1/1/24), 4% (7/1/24), 2% (1/1/25), 5% (7/1/25).
- Additional 15% pay for employees with valid State of California registration as a Professional Land Surveyor.
Benefits & Retirement: Eligible for the San Diego City Employees Retirement System (SDCERS).
Minimum Requirements:
- Three years of full-time experience on a land survey crew, or registration as a Professional Land Surveyor, or Land Surveyor-in-Training (LSIT) Certificate.
- Education: Up to one year of required experience can be substituted with relevant college-level coursework.
Highly Desirable Skills:
- Proficiency in GPS receivers for RTK surveys, total survey stations, and electronic levels.
- Expertise in CADD and GIS computer applications.
- A valid California Class C Driver License at the time of hire.
